William "Bill" G. Cummings

William “Bill” G. Cummings, 86, of Lisle, NY passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents, Grant and Edith (Reed) Cummings. He is survived by his wife Cathryn (Cronin) Cummings; 3 children, Richard (Michelle) Cummings, Rita (Mark) Lawler, William P. (Crystal) Cummings; 4 grandchildren, Liam, Emma, Zoey, and Erin; 2 sisters, Jean France, Joan (James) Rasmussen, and several nieces and nephews.

Bill worked his entire career at General Electric, starting as a floor sweeper at Electronics Park in Liverpool in 1959.  He rose through the ranks at GE ultimately becoming a Supervisor.  In 1978 he relocated to their Westover site and built a log home in Lisle where he resided for the past forty three years until his passing.  He retired in 1993, enjoying a long and relaxing retirement. 

Bill was an avid hunter and loved to tell stories about being in the woods.  Like any good hunter, the bucks got bigger with every passing year or retelling.  He also enjoyed woodworking, anything mechanical, having coffee at the local diner, and pitching in on the family farm as needed.  Being useful and being with family were his two strongest guideposts. 

The family would like to thank the nurses and other medical staff of Wilson Hospital’s North Wing, 4^th floor for their kindness and compassionate care in his final days. The family will receive friends at Sunset Memorial Services LLC 2659 Main Street, Whitney Point on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 10am until service time at 11am. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitney Point, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier 212 N McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760.
