William P Early, 82, of Scottsboro Alabama passed peacefully away on the evening of December 24, 2024 at the home of his sister, Catherine Phillips of Whitney Point NY. William was predeceased by parents William G and Mary Early, a sister Christine Machlin, and brother-in-law Thomas E Phillips. Uncle Bill is survived by Catherine (and Barry Moore). Also by nieces and nephews Theresa Schliff, Benjamin Phillips, Danielle Acly, Stephanie Holecek, Thomas Phillips and their spouses, several beloved great and great-great nieces and nephews.
William, in his younger years, had the opportunity to live his dream sailing the seven seas as an oceanographic researcher on the Robert D Conrad research vessel for the Lamont Geological Observatory. Then moving on to a geophysicist position with the University of California. Back to New York, Florida, Alabama, settling down and spending his days on his 35’ Chris Craft on the Tennessee River in Scottsboro.
We are deeply grateful for the kindness and support shown to Bill and the family these last few weeks by the wonderful people from Guthrie Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
