William Cotcamp Obituary

William (Bill) Austin Cotcamp, age 95, long time resident of Whitney Point, passed
away suddenly as a result of a fall on February 22, 2021. He is back in the arms of
his wife of 68 years Freida Mae Fritsch. Bill is predeceased by his father, Corbett
and mother Goldie; siblings Corbett Jr., Sylvia Farin, Eleanor McClure, Rosa Allen,
Marion Cotcamp, Shelby Ballard. He is survived by his siblings, Delia Seeley, Hugh
Cotcamp, Barbara Ann Moore, Patricia Kolar, Brenda Hatala, Dawn Ronk; and
children, Gary (Mona) Cotcamp, Diane (Kim) Miller, Laura Cotcamp, Brian (Toni)
Cotcamp, Nancy (Keith) Gustafson; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Prindle, Sarah
Cotcamp, Nicole Depew, Brad Miller, Kristy Silcott, Mary Beth Kupchik, Dustin and
Ryan Cotcamp, Kaitlyn, Mark and Kelsey Gustafson and 14 great-grandchildren.
Bill graduated from high school in Fayetteville, West Virginia in 1943. He joined the
Army and served 3 years in the 11 th Airborne Division and rose to the rank of
Corporal in the Military Police in Occupied Japan. After marriage and building a
home in 1964 his work life included: Ansco (7 years); IBM (27 years); Nichols
Funeral Home (5 years), Roots Funeral Home (3 years); Avis (19 years); Zenith
sales and repairman (20 years);
Bill served in the Whitney Point Rotary Club for 10 years and served as President for
1 year. Some of his pleasures in life included visiting national parks, snowmobiling,
gardening, bird watching, camping and spending time at his lake house surrounded
by family, laughs and good food. He was an avid sports fan. He played for the
Whitney Point town baseball team. He enjoyed watching the NY Giants, Yankees
and Syracuse basketball teams.
The family would like to thank home care aide Anita Schultz and neighbors, the
Ruggerio family for their compassionate care and support. A graveside service will
be held at a later date in the Spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset
Memorial Services, Whitney Point, New York.
