Virginia (Ginny) Sturdevant
September 28, 1941- March 31, 2025
It is with a mixture of sadness and celebration that the family of Virginia Ann Sturdevant announce her passing from this world into the glorious light of Heaven. Born to the late Martin C and Norma Jean Ostrander- Ginny was a lifelong resident of Whitney Point, graduating from High School in 1959 and a member of the Countryside Christian Chapel. She was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her husband of 50 years: Robert R. Sturdevant Sr., together with her parents and brothers: Arthur, Stephen & Dennis Ostrander. Left behind are Daughters: Robin Blass, Barbara (Wayne) Gorsline. Son: Robert (Michelle) Sturdevant Jr. as well as 10 Grandchildren & 27 Great Grandchildren. She also leaves behind a special friend Laramie Smith. Two Sisters: Jean Ostrander & Susan Brant. Two Brothers: Martin (Sandy) & Ed (Jackie) Ostrander. Best Friend of 77 years (Sister In-Law) Shirley Marye and many, many other friends and family. After raising their own children, she & Bob became foster parents and opened their hearts and home to many less fortunate children. Due to their love, kindness & spiritual guidance, several of those children are still a part of our family today…Michelle, Tyler, Josh and Camille. Ginny was the center of our world; the kind of person we should all aspire to be. Cruising, traveling, cards and Bingo were some of her favorite things to do. Through her, we learned love, laughter, kindness and the importance of God and family. Her home on Pendell Hill was open to everyone; a place where the adults gathered for coffee, the kids gathered to play and where the grandchildren reminisce about their most cherished memories. The amount of people that that house could hold on Thanksgiving was astounding. She was a friend to everyone she met, her light burned bright for all to see. Ginny loved the Lord and her family with all her heart, and we loved her. If she touched your life, you were better for it. Our loss is immeasurable, but Heaven gained another treasure. Services will be held Friday April 11, 2025, at Countryside Christian Chapel. Calling Hours: 9-11 am. Funeral: 11 am. Burial at the Center Lisle Cemetery immediately following. There will be a luncheon held at the Lisle Fire Station after the service. The family is planning to create a memorial garden in her honor at her home on Pendell Hill. Anyone interested may donate an outdoor plant in Lieu of flowers.
