Sandy Baker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on January 29, 2021. Sandy died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband and soul mate of 56 years Gene; her children Timothy (Kathleen) Baker, Michael (Christine) Baker and Daniel (Melissa) Baker; grandchildren Ethan, Nathan, Jacob, Megan, Samuel, Elijah & Abigale; step grandchildren Brent (Sarah) Carlson, Blake Carlson & Brandon (Amanda) Carlson; step great grandchildren Rider, Collin, Adelyn & Alyssa; sister Sharon (Ed) Bowen; sister-in-law Uadia Ballard and many nieces & nephews. Sandy was born on June 27, 1941, one of fifteen children, to the late Arvin and Beatrice Ballard. She attended Whitney Point schools and in her younger days was a great athlete who played softball, basketball and volleyball. Sandy was a bank teller for many years and loved interacting with people. After their marriage, Gene and Sandy lived for a time at their farm in Trumansburg and in Concord, NC before returning to Whitney Point where they owned and operated the Sundae Shoppe for twenty years. Sandy was a long time member of Whitney Point Baptist Church and more recently Nanticoke Baptist Church. Sandy loved getting out and about but her greatest joy was being around her family. The family will receive friends at Sunset Memorial Home Observing COVID 19 Regulations on Friday February 5th from 1-3PM and 5-8PM. A private service will be held on Saturday February 6th followed by burial at the Upper Lisle cemetery.
