Rita Arlene Quail Slack
January 18, 1959- April 25, 2025 (66 years)
Rita was born in Marathon, NY. She passed away peacefully in her home, though unexpectedly.
She is predeceased by Ann Potts Harrington (Mother), Hugh Quail (Father), Joann Quail (Stepmother), Sherry Quail Kline (Sister), and multiple in-laws.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Jake Slack and their 4 children; Anthony (Stephenie) Slack, Michelle (Mike) Cook, Annette Mott, David (Holly) Slack and 11 grandchildren who she loved dearly; Evan, Collin, Victoria, Landon, and Holden Slack; Emma and Naomi Cook; Derek and Natalie Mott; Dan and Evelyn Slack.
Rita also leaves behind a large family of siblings; Nina (Don) Perry, Mike (Missy) Quail, Mitch (Eileen) Quail, Tina (Bill) Sturdevant, Andy Quail, Andrea (Mike) Hill, Jay (Robin) Quail, Yvonne (Shawn) Canniff, Suzan (Chad) Tedder, multiple in-laws, several nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family and friends.
She loved; gardening, riding her motorcycle, playing softball with her league, and was an avid hunter. Rita loved boating and playing cards with her family. She looked forward to the yearly trip to Verona with the extended family.
Although she liked to play and have fun in her spare time, Rita was a devoted employee at Whitney Point Central Schools, from which she retired after 25 years of service. Due to complications and the doctor’s visits stemming from a brain tumor in 2014, she was forced into an early retirement. Rita was a strong woman, a fighter and had been through remission and was cancer free in the end.
There will be no formal services. However, the family invites you to attend the Celebration of Life to be held on Wednesday April 30, 2025 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Lisle Fire Station.
