Michael Wade Obituary

With great sorrow the time has come to announce the passing of Mike Wade.  Mike was born at home between the blizzard and the hurricane of December 17, 1934 to Alexandria Wyscowski and Harry Wade.  Okay, maybe not; but how else could we have a man that was a perfect combination of Paul Bunyan and Yosemite Sam?   Pop was larger than life to most who knew him. He spent a lifetime becoming the yardstick that we would all use to measure up to.  A source of great inspiration through a character that was shaped and molded through hardship and humor.  He never backed down from a challenge and he never missed an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of those around him.  He earned the place of legend in our hearts and minds.  Mike was pre-deceased by his parents, his only sibling Edward, his infant son Russell, and his eldest grand-daughter Amy.  He is survived by his spouse and partner in adventure; Gail.  They loved and supported each other through their many ventures in 52 years; starting with farming and ending with rental properties.  It was never easy but their faith in each other and their perseverance weathered them through the many storms that life would throw their way.  His crown had many jewels but none sparkled as brightly as his four little girls:  Carol, Linda, Susie and Katie; each uniquely shining in their role a “daddy’s girl”.  These we not easy roles to live; but in his eyes they were each their own bright, beautiful color that he was proud to wear on his crown.  His treasures continued to grow with his sons John and Lewis.  Then he added, Gail, Will and Cindy.  He really loved treasure and was happy to consider Don Riley and Bob Hoag as a part of his family too.  On the evening of January 5, 2024 I sat in the living room of the house that Pa was born in 89 years ago.  It had been just a few hours since he had passed in this same home.  I looked at his family portraits hanging on the wall and realized that I have begun my first day in a world that he was no longer a part of.  A day that I always knew would come but just couldn’t truly fathom what it would feel like.  I realized that Pop was such a part of me that I would never truly be without him.  The hard- working, compassionate, dedicated man we all knew left us with some fine examples to live by.  The tales of raucous antics, hellraising and that leprechaun smirk will forever be a part of us all.  The family of Michael Thomas Wade invite you to join us on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Countryside Christian Chapel, 32 Bull Creek Road, Whitney Point.  We will be having a small service at 12 pm followed by a dinner and a time of celebration at the same place.  As a family, we could not fail to thank our sister Susan Meade and our niece Jackie Silvernail for the outstanding care that they so dedicated themselves to provide.  Care that was held in the highest regard by the hospice staff as being the best they have ever seen.  We are yet again blessed by our sister Carol Furgeson who will be catering our celebration.  A special thank you to our honorary pall bearers John Wade, Lewis Wade, Will Green, Don Riley, Bob Hoag and Don Clink; who will be ushering.  We would also like to thank special friend Don Clink for the many years of faithful friendship and hard work that he devoted to his dear friend.  Above all, a special heartfelt acknowledgement for Mrs. Michael Wade for insisting that he come home to spend his final days close to his family and dedicating herself to the best around the clock care that a husband could ever hope for even- though you never did anything for him (leprechaun smirk!).
