Michael J. Hakes

Michael (Mike) J. Hakes, age 58 passed away peacefully in his sleep at his family home on Sunday May 29,2022.  Mike was born May 29th, 1964 in Waverly, NY to Bonnie (Brewer) and Leland Hakes.  Sadly he was predeceased by both his parents.
In 2004 Mike was reunited with his high school sweetheart Nancy, and together they worked on creating and building Hilltop Pottery.  Mike was the people person, always charming and funny.  He had a great ability to connect with people and took pride in selling the pottery they had created.  Mike enjoyed throwing pottery, gardening and playing cards with friends and family.  He had a strong love for all his four legged family members of which there are 7.
Those close to Mike will remember him for his quirky sense of humor and his innate ability to get a rise or reaction out of anyone.  He looked forward to the times he got to spend with brother Shawn and sister-in-law Patti  in Colorado, whom he adored and looked up to even though Shawn was the younger brother.  Mikes final words would be "Go Buffalo Bills"
Mike is survived by his life partner of 18 years Nancy, his brother Shawn(wife Patti) and their children Memphis and Sage all of Granby, Colorado.  A sister , Heather Sewalt and her family of Waverly, NY, plus many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  Mike was also blessed to have extended family and is survived by his partners family Donna(Dee Dee) and Glenn Jayven, Ashley and Joshua.  Private family services will be held at a later date.
