Kathleen M. (Hickey) Smith, 82 of Lisle, passed away June 13th, 2025. Kathy is predeceased by her parents Bernard and Evelyn Hickey, her husband Duane, her daughter Teresa and her sister and brother-in-laws Theresa, Al and Ken. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Kierstin (Jeff) Luschwitz, Jeanenne (Bill) Hall; her grandchildren, Dustin (Caitlyn) Luschwitz, Katie (Mont) Lynch, Kyle (Lindsay) Luschwitz, Brandon (Brenda) Hall, Allison (Jackie) D'Elia-Hall, Natalie Hall and 8 great-grandchildren; her Aunt Edith Smith and her sisters, Maureen Hatlee, Eileen (Butch) Butterworth and Colleen (Jeff) Uotila. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as her beloved fur-babies.
Kathleen loved to be outdoors. She often would spend summer days in her flower beds or creating new garden waterfalls within her yard, made from stunning rocks she had found from elsewhere. Her flower beds and waterfalls were known all around town for their beauty. In her earlier days, she would take her children and their friends for mesmerizing walks in the nearby creeks. She continued this tradition of outdoor fun with her grandchildren. Kathleen was always enjoying time with her children, even after working long and difficult shifts at work. She was a vibrant, loving, and restless soul that matched her children and grandchildren’s energy. She enjoyed accompanying her husband to the golf course or to watch him fly the model air planes he would make! Over the past few years, it had been a family joke amongst Kathleen and others that she was “freezing” all the time. It was to the point of which she was known to wear snowsuits at the golf course during 85+ degree weather, and she absolutely loved to do it! When her late-daughter Teresa was still alive, they spent much of their beloved free time together searching for gorgeous waterfalls together or taking road trips to see different waterfronts and oceans.
Kathleen was the most down-to-earth person, and her legacy of love is everlasting to those who knew her.
A celebration of life is being planned for Kathy and will be shared once details are available.
