June Anne Packer

June Anne (Button) Packer, of Whitney Point passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023.  June was born on May 9, 1941 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late James Button, Tioga, PA and Esther (Powell) Button, Endicott, NY.  June was predeceased by her sisters Jeanne (Carl) Traver, Esther (Richard) Trexel and brother James (Sally) Button. 

June graduated from Union-Endicott High School where she joined the co-op program resulting in an extensive career with IBM/Lockheed Martin, Owego, NY. 

June is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews, many of whom considered her a “second mom” to them.  She had a love of nature, flowers and animals and often donated to local animal shelters.  June also had a love for knitting and most certainly every baby born into her family or the family of her friends would receive one of her creations.  In later years, June often made lap blankets to pass along to those in assisted care facilities.  She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. 

A special thanks to her dear friends and neighbors for being a constant source of support and friendship throughout her last years. 

A funeral service will be held at Sunset Memorial Services in Whitney Point, NY on Saturday, November 4th at 11:00am.  The family will receive friends at 10:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Whitney Point, NY.
