Joseph Anthony Cerasaro, 84, of Merrimack, NH, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025. Born on April 8, 1941, in Endicott, NY, Joseph graduated from Union Endicott High School in the Class of 1959. He pursued higher education at Syracuse University and Northeastern University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. His professional career spanned 32 years at Sanders Associates (later BAE Systems), where he made a lasting impact by founding the company’s first Software Engineering Program in 1975. In 2003, Joseph married Carole (Whitley) Vandermark after reconnecting at their 35th high school reunion. Together they shared 22 years of marriage filled with love, travel, and shared passions. They enjoyed gardening side by side, with Joseph crafting custom raised beds for their thriving tomato plants and vegetables. A skilled finish carpenter and fine woodworker, Joseph built beautiful custom cabinetry for his home. He also found joy in playing golf—highlighted by two memorable rounds at St. Andrews in Scotland—and was proud of his ability to quickly learn to drive on the left side of the road. He and Carole traveled frequently to Europe and the Caribbean with friends and family, cherishing most especially their trip to Italy. He also enjoyed friendly poker games with close companions. Those who knew Joseph remember him as a very kind man with a generous heart. Their grandchildren fondly recall him as a wonderful grandfather who shared in their joy. Funeral services will be held on September 3, 2025, at St. Anthony’s of Padua in Endicott, NY. Visiting hour will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Vestal Hills Memorial Park in Vestal, NY. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
