James Barrows Obituary

James V Barrows passed on at home on June 11, 2021. Jim was born October 12, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Tami Jennison Barrows on June 28, 1980. They made their home in the town of Lapeer. Their favorite place to be. He will be deeply missed by his children Jamie (Amanda) Barrows, Shanna (Joel) Brown, Jesse Barrows, and Kristy (Abby) Robbins-Barrows, the lights of his life, his grandchildren Noelani and Taiya Barrows and Jude Brown. Loving family members Fred and Deanne Morrison, Dennis and Chrissie Askew, John and Carol (Sheeley) Jennison and many loved nieces and nephews.

Jim is also survived by his siblings, Ike (Daphne) Barrows, Joann (Jim) Cook, Linda Oliver, Valerie (Russ) Penrose, Billie Jo Barrows. He was predeceased by Don and Bonnie Jennison, his parents, Iram and Doris (DeGroat) Barrows, and sisters RoseMarie Braman and Penny Potts.

Jim retired from his job as a Bridge Repair Supervisor 1 at NYSDOT leaving many coworkers who were like family to him. He then enjoyed working for the Town of Lapeer.

Jim was a past Chief and a life member of the Marathon Fire Department.

For Jim, family always came first. He was most proud of being a loving husband, a great Dad and the best Papa. He was a hard worker, knew how to do anything and was always happy to lend a hand. A lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. He had a natural talent and love for fixing and restoring vehicles and wood building, collaborating on many projects with his "bride". Jim loved making people laugh and will be remembered as a friend to many.
A Private service, including a fireman's service will be held. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
Please feel free to make any donations in his memory to the Marathon Fire Dept.
