Jaen DePue passed away on June 24,2024 in the arms of her loving husband Lee and with family at her side. She was born to Jennie and Lester Smith on April 19th,1935 in Whitney Point at their home located where the Whitney Point dam is located today. They relocated to a farm on route 26 near Upper Lisle where she was raised. Jaen is survived by her life long love, husband Lee DePue ,son Thomas DePue (Diane) Brackney,Pa, daughters Michelle Behlen (David) Whitney Point, Cindy Smith (Bradley) Horse heads, NY, Lisa Reynolds Whitney Point, NY, LuAnne DePue, Johnson City and 13 precious grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also, her sister Barbara Vandeburg (Keith) Whitney Point and her brother Harry Smith (Terry) Danvers, Ma. Jaen graduated from Whitney Point High School. She was employed by Binghamton Agway when she married her high school sweetheart Lee DePue on November 25,1953. Years later she also worked as a cook at Rita's Italian restaurant. She was known by family and friends as being an excellent cook. Her famous crab dip will be sadly missed by many. Jaen was part of the Southertiersmates for 60 years making many lifelong friends, many of which became a second family. Especially her dear friend Shirley. She and Lee traveled to almost every major city in the US and Canada attending barbershop conventions. They went on barbershop cruises on the Love boat to Mexico and Alaska and had the honor of being seated at the Captains table every evening for dinner. They joined the Southerntiersmen Barbershop chapter on a trip to Ireland for St. Patrick's Day in 2001. She even got to kiss the Blarney Stone. She spent the majority of her summers at her cottage on DeRuyter Lake for 61 years where so many happy times were spent with family and friends. When it wasn't warm outside she was crocheting and knitting. Every family member has a collection of afghans from baby blankets to wedding gifts. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Countryside Christian Chapel, 32 Bull Creek Road, Whitney Point, NY.
