Frances Ann Gallagher, age 88, of Marathon, NY, passed away at home on Sunday, April 12,
2026, surrounded by family after a prolonged illness. Frances was born in 1937 in New
Brunswick, NJ to Francis and Wilhelmina (Slover) Mills, and grew up in Jamesburg, NJ,
graduating Jamesburg High School and marrying Bernard (Bud) Gallagher in 1954.
Fran and Bud went on to have seven children: Raymond (deceased), Richard (Tina), William
(Giselle), Bernardette (Ange, deceased), Rebecca (Steve), Cindy (Mike), Cathy (Dan), and were
blessed to be "Gramie and Pap" to 14 grandchildren: Melissa, Richard, Sara, Meagan, Raymond
II, Kelly, Amanda, Casey, Clayton, Delaney, Rachel, Tyler, Kate, and Matt, and 13 great
grandchildren: Raymond III, Lilly, Finley, Daisy, August, Asher, Tobin, Bennett, James, Josie,
Jolene, Griffin, and Reyna. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother
who took great joy in spending time with her loved ones.
She was predeceased by her husband Bud, her sister and brother-in-law: Joyce and Leonard
Pabin; but is survived by their beloved children, Leonard, Brenda, Colleen, Virginia, Joyce,
Patrick, Mary, and Kathy.
She was at her happiest cooking wonderful family meals and creating a warm welcoming home;
she will be fondly remembered for her devotion to family and her cats. In her later years, she
took great pride in being a “crazy cat lady.”
Frances raised her children on a farm in Cranbury, NJ and later settled in Marathon. Her
devotion to her children was nothing short of extraordinary; raising seven children under difficult
circumstances, she demonstrated remarkable strength and selflessness, sacrificing everything to
keep her children well-fed, warm, clothed, educated, and healthy. Her legacy will forever be
cherished by the entire family.
