Donald D. Ketchum

Donald D Ketchum – formerly of Whitney Point died on August 8, 2023 at the age
of 89.
He was predeceased by his parents, Delester and Mildred Ketchum; his sister,
Evelyn (Glenn) Hayes; his sister Doris (Albert) Lamb; his daughter Kelly
Sturdevant; and his grandson Justin Henningsen.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis; his children Kim Henningsen, Kenneth Ketchum,
Kyle Ketchum and Kristi Tracy; his step daughters Lisa Bodnar and Amy (Vinnie)
Polacek; his special niece Cheryl Lamb; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews
and his dear friends Wayne and Carole Beddoe.
Donald worked for Prudential for 10 years before buying the Strong Insurance
Agency located in Whitney Point, NY and Marathon, NY. In 1986 he was one of
the founders of KBM Management (K being Ketchum) in Syracuse, NY. KBM
addressed the needs of employers who felt helpless when seeking alternatives to
their Group Health Insurance and Workers’ Compensation plans. A stop-loss
insurance market was developed that allowed them to explore the ability to self-
fund these plans.
He was a member of the Marathon Lions and co-chairman of the Marathon Maple
Festival along with his long-time friend Robert Miller.
At Donald’s request there will be no Calling hours. A graveside service will be held
in the Upper Lisle Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
