David S. Mau

David Mau, 57 of Whitney Point, exited the stage on May 22, 2023 surrounded by love, peace, and care.

This is an obituary not about death but a legacy of love, laughter, and soul.

David, Dave, Diamond Dave, David Lee Mau (DLM) led a life so full that even in his passing, he is all around us. To know David was to love him. If you were to ask someone to describe David there will be a thread that runs through them all: unassuming, wicked sense of humor, and love. David could listen, offer an off-color joke, and poignant life advice all in one breath. In his quiet way he touched everyone, guided so many, all without asking for anything in return.

He met his true love and soulmate, Carol, in 1996. This was a kismet meeting of perfect souls. David and Carol cared for each other with a depth of true knowing, of care, of love, and laughter. The two of them laughed harder with each other, even in their arguments. Together, they created the most beautiful and loving family that stretched far beyond their biological children. For a punk rocker, David was the ultimate family man.

David is survived by everyone who knew and loved him. His life ripples through us all, and we will all be forever changed for knowing and loving him.

That is David’s legacy: to be a good person and love everyone selflessly. He will be missed on this earth dearly.
