Dale R. Gage

Dale R Gage of Lisle, NY passed away surrounded by his family and caregivers on October 17, 2024, at the age of 83. Dale was born to Hiram & Else Gage on June 23, 1941. He was predeceased by his siblings Keith, Marshall and Mark Gage. Dale is survived by his younger sister Vonda. Dale was married to his wife Linda (predeceased) for 64 years. Dale is also survived by his children Robin (Rick) Beck, Dale Gage, Shawn (Danielle) Gage, Danielle Gage (Chris), Jacquelyn Nachand (Corey) along with many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Dale had love for his children like no other. To Dale his children were his life, and what mattered, he was always only a phone call away and he would be there no matter what. He was a father you could count on no matter the circumstances. Dale worked for Grumman Boats for 30 years as their plant manager, where he retired and went on to become a corrections officer in Cortland County, and later retired from there. Dale had a love for stock cars, hunting and being an outdoorsman. One of the best things about Dale was his love for being a Papa. Being with papa meant long drives (shortcuts) with his love for humming tunes instead of listening to the radio, long walks with stories to go with them, learning who all your neighbors were, what mudlick means, where the heart shaped pool was, and why we didn’t bring snakes to grandma that we found. He always nurtured their curiosity for life. Everything with papa was fun, even the hard work. Everyone wanted to help papa, from gardening, to yard work, taking care of the buildings, trips to the store where he would say “do you have any money? I don’t get an allowance” when he would secretly let you pick out a treat. He even would let you do his makeup, hair and toenails while he took a nap. Dale was a patient, fun, kind, loving man that showed his family the difficulties of life and how no matter what we could face them. Your family will miss you more than words can say, but we know that you’re with us every day. We will carry your legacy with us with every selfless deed, act of kindness, and loving smile. Thank you for all you chose to do, and we hope you know the best of us is YOU!
