Alice Gregg, born in New York City on December 23, 1928 passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019. She moved to Afton, NY at a young age and was raised on a farm. Her parents were immigrants of Sweden and met in this country. She met her best friend at 5 years old. Isabel Reynolds Mulwane was 10 years old, they have been life-long friends for 85 years. After graduation she moved to Binghamton, NY and lived in the YWCA. She graduated from Ridley Lowell Business School and worked at WENE Radio, then Wilson Meat Company where she met the love of her life- Marvin. They were married on June 14, 1954 and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They opened Gregg’s Big M in Whitney Point on August 19, 1964, Maine Big M in May 1972, Marathon Supermarket in December 1972 and Gregg’s Ben Franklin in May 1979. Alice is predeceased by her parents, Theodor (Alma) Johnson, sister, Ebba (Edwin) Swan, brother’s-in-law, Harold Gregg, Walter Gregg, sister-in-law, Thelma (Auggie) Belles, nieces, Alison Swan Nygren, Mary Gregg Cole, Morgan Wheeler and nephew Kevin Gregg. She is survived by her Husband, Marvin Gregg, Children, Sherry Gregg, Holly (Jeff) Johnson, Lance (Heidi) Gregg, grandchildren, John (Christina) Bolson, Jason (Mallory) Gregg, Jeffrey (Stephanie Comparetta) Johnson Jr., Briana Johnson, Nicole Gregg, Corey Gregg, Great Grandchildren, Nicholas Bolson, Noah Bolson, Dominic Johnson, Matteo Johnson, Lillian Gregg, Nephews, Edwin (Joan) Swan of Goodland, Kansas and Roy (Peggy) Swan of Lovingston, Virginia, many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Marylou Gregg and brother, Roy (Lorraine) Gregg. Alice and Marvin were avid hockey fans of Binghamton Hockey for 45 years until declining health. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Salvation Army, 127-131 Washington Ave. Binghamton, New York 13901. The family will receive friends at Sunset Memorial Services, 2659 Main Street, Whitney Point, New York on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 5-8 PM and Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 10AM until service time at 11 AM.
